99 chevy 3/4 truck

There is an on-line auction near me that has a truck listed.
5.7L engine
automatic tranny
285,000 miles
damage to the passenger side box and cab corner
They also have a 20 ft flatbed trailer that they must have hauled hay with and a 24 ft cattle trailer.
What is it worth? How much life is still in it? I am going to look at it Monday PM

Bottom line is how much do you want to put into it keeping it, that is a lot of miles.

2wd or 4wd? $500 if 2wd and $1000 if 4wd. Around my parts a working 4x4 is worth a grand no matter what shape.

At $1000 you'd be paying top dollar for it. They're a good truck, but just about everything would have to be replaced immediately or soon. Front suspension, cv shafts, engine, transmission, transfer case. It could become a real money pit. With the damage, it's worth less yet. Make sure it's an 8 lug with the 4l80e transmission. Just keep looking if it's a 6 lug, hardly worth owning.

I have a 92 (8Bolt hubs) with 160,ooo miles.Runs good.I feed with it everyday so it's seen a hard life.Another 100,000 miles& it will be past time to retire the truck.

Thank you for the advise. I have my own money pit and thought I could upgrade for an even swap. If I could sell mine for what I could buy this one for.
