I have over a dozen small machines with 4-14hp engines. After years of supporting Briggs and others we went to Harbor Freight's Honda copies. We are in Florida and put on a LOT of hours. Until a month ago we had NO problems using cast aluminum pullies.Lately the pullies are shearing keys like crazy. Same batch of pullies and keys. A switch to machined steel pullies always solves the problem. What arewe doing wrong? The Honda's have the same problem.

Soft junk cast aluminum China built pulleys. You can't buy a US made aluminum anymore. Welcome to the great world wide market place. JUNK EVERY WHERE!!!!

Make a good US made product and if it does not cost less than the foreign junk you are out of business.

There are many things we used to be able to get easily now they are no longer available.

We had that problem with lovejoy coupling at work. Kept wearing out the one half of the coupling and the rubber in between. I measured the key stock and found the coupling was 1/32" bigger than the key. We got the coupling with the correct size keyway and our problem was solved.
