Rita Macneil passes away.

How sad to hear this. My wife and I stopped and had lunch at her "Tea House" on Cape Breton Island several years ago. I don't know how many hours that I have listened to her tapes while driving a tractor. May the Lord grant her eternal rest. She will be missed.
 
She overcame great stage fright. One of the best. Just to get an idea one of the others that come up on her youtube page is George Jones.Sad passing.
 
Yes she was JD, She lived at a small community known as Big Pond on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. She had a magnificent voice and had a little Cafe called "Rita's Tea House." She always fought a weight problem and I would presume that it had an effect on her early passing. I have several tapes and CD's of her and most are truly worn out from being played so much. She was one of my favorites. God love her, may she rest in peace. Tom
 
All that's been said so far is that she died as a result of complications from an operation. Hasn't said what that was for...

Just finished listening to 30-40 minutes of this lady. No wonder I'd never heard of her before: she sings beautiful songs, beautifully. Not what today's crowd wants. Sad loss.
