I have a Super C that hasn"t been run in 3 yrs. I"ve changed points, plugs, distributor, condenser, distributor cap, plug wires, even put a carb kit in it. Ive also poured transmission fluid on top of pistons, with little sucess.Sometimes it will start and idle for a minute, or two, but then it will die again, and will not start until the next day, or so. Please help, I"ve never had this much trouble out of any tractor.

If it remains consistant with all that new, put a coil in it. (probably the issue to begin with, but somewhat hard to suspect. To check it, put a old spark plug on one of the wires then run it on 3th33 cylinders and watch the spark die out. (coil I bet) Jim

I have never heard of putting transmission fluid in the cylinderz. Is that really going to help? Is it flammable?

It was to try to get the rings to be free and it does work. It is not intended to be filled, and not intended to be operated with massive amounts in the cylinders. It is left in for a few days, then the plugs are pulled out and the engine spun. (messy, but have floor dry handy). Then put it together ans let it smoke for a bit. The process can free up stuck rings and remove some carbon from the grooves. Jim

The carb adjustment on my IH C backwards. Turn the mixture screw in and the mix gets very rich. My C has a mag. It fires up on first or second crank with the throttle at an idle.

If it starts and idles, you have spark and gas, perhaps not enough gas. Did you start over with fresh gas?

You should of done your troubleshooting before you started buying parts! What you are doing is called shotgun maintenance, you have changed a lot of parts but not solved the problem.
