Sprayed My Lawn and Can't Believe it!

I sprayed 2-4-D on my lawn last night for dandelions and other broadleaf weeds. I drug an 8ft 2x10 behind my little 50 gallon sprayer and this morning all the little yellow flowers were nowhere to be seen.

The 2x10 becomes soaked underneath with the 2-4-D after being drug over the sprayed plants. It turns the dandelion leafs upside down and rubs some chemical on the bottom of the leaf. This is the most tender part of any plant and has a better killing result.

The board also helps leave a mark so you can see where you've been.
 
Back in the late 70's, my mom bought a wax bar, with a rope on each end. It was basically a strip of plywood, with 2-4-D impregnated wax on each side. It was made to drag behind a riding lawnmower.

The main benefit, besides doing two jobs at once, is that there is no chance of drift into rose bushes, etc.

You could have tacked carpet on both sides, soaked the carpet down, and just drug it around.

We would have to run a steam machine first to get the snow out of the way. Then still be a long time before anything would grow enough to be blooming!

Dandelions are welcome in my yard because I cut them out before they bloom and eat them. I make a salad with them with bacon grease, bacon bits vinegar and chopped boiled egg and a small an=mount of brown sugar. I can eat this days on end its so good. I even notice that grocery stores now have dandelions in the produce section.
