Returned home Sunday evening to find two kicked in doors and home in complete mess. Jewelry and electronics missing.Every drawer,closet and bed gone thru.NO delibarate damage,careful not to break any glass.Sherif said probably in less than five minuets.MY message to you is tighten up do not become lax in your security.Nice weather will bring them out.Thanks for allowing me to rant.GP

Time for you to get an alarm and a safe.
 
Based on over 20 years chasing burglars- if you have kids, look at their friends. If you have neighbors or relatives with money issues, look at them too.
 
My front door got kicked in 3 years ago, the alarm scared them off. That cost about 10 grand to fix, the jam was bent and the door was bricked in. They had to pull brick off front of house to replace it.

My shop and office are also alarmed, best money I ever spent.
 
Alarm and a safe is the only way to go. Not a bad idea to be armed in case they are there when you come in. It is getting worse all the time.
 
There is nothing more heart breaking than to come home to that situation. A few years ago that happened to us while at a wedding. Lost 17 rifles and 29 hand guns. Many of the guns were antique and valuable. My wife lost her jewelry. Quite a bit of 24c stuff I brought her from Indonesia. Some of the guns were in the family for 3 generations. I feel your pain.
 
DAVID G PLEASE TELL ME MORE ABOUT TYPE OF SYSTEM YOU HAVE.DEPUTY TOLD ME NINE OUT OF TEN BREAK INS HAS AN ALARM. HE DID NOT GO INTO ANY DETAILS.I ASKED WHAT I COULD DO TO PREVENT THIS FROM RECURRING.THANK YOU
 
Again, based on 20 years plus in law enforcement, I've seen alarms and then there are ALARMS. ADT was always big in this area- and absolutely worthless. I've seen numerous ADT systems fail to activate or to activate constantly over nothing. The only decent systems I dealt with were true commercial level systems at places like like the Post Office or at some upscale businesses.

Alarm systems are great if you can afford a good one.
