Nice...we don"t participate in ours any more...our TSC is in a very yuppie area: Vestal, NY and they always have us put the tractors way off to the side where no one comes and looks...and they stock almost no tractor parts...can"t even get an oil filter for a JD A (same one used in A B G 50 60 70 720...well you get the idea! LOL

Pete last year we were sit off to the side and I beleive more people walked out of there way and stood around and talked,We are also turning into a uppie area

Tractor Supply has turned into a horse supply store, very little to do with tractors.. They carry more clothes than tractor parts.

Our tractor club is having our local TSC Show N Shine this coming weekend in Council Bluffs, Iowa. They are always really eager to have us every year and take good care of us. I know there was a tractor show this past Saturday at the Hasings, NE TSC. Where are you located?

Quite a few years ago, I got an overhaul kit with pistons and piston rings for an International "H" from Tractor Supply. I really think now they should take the word "Tractor" out of their name.

Neat to see the tractors at the your TSC. I think clubs/groups can get set up with their local TSC and some other farm stores and do the same thing. Management has to run it by HQ first.

It's sad to see what TSC has become. The rural home/landowner and weekend warrior's Walmart.

40+years ago when my dad got his start in farming he bought sow and nursery crates at the local TSC on closeout. He said he asked the manager, who was a nice guy and a bit of a comedian, but a guy who really knew his ag stuff why they were getting rid of them and a bunch of other ag and tractor related items. He said they probably needed the shelf space for pantyhose or something. Within weeks he was fired and within a year the store was closed. They abandoned their base a long time ago here. The only thing that saved them around here is QFF going broke.

Today, there's maybe 25 pages in the blue book today for "farmers", and I'm not counting horse shampoo, either. Maybe another 10 pages of "tractor parts". There's maybe 2 short rows in each of our local stores with stuff needed to keep an animal in or put a crop out.

Looks like fun.

We usually do a 4H day at TSC - we bring a bunch of animals.

Funny - even though it's named "tractor" supply, I never considered bringing tractors with us.

Maybe this year.

Buchheit has a very good showing of antiques. They are in the back but nice. I think the owner has them all. I saw a MM at Herculaneum, MO. I think it was a 5 Star that he bought at a large sale a few yeas past at Cornland, IL, 50 miles SW of me.

Don't forget the I & I shows at Penfield, July 11-14 and Rantoul August 22-25. You get to see it and eat dirt with the old tractors. There will be tractors at the Farm Progress show outside the fence at the SW corner if it is the same as last year.

Tractor Supply is just like any other business struggling to survive in the modern economy. They have to keep up with the changing marketplace.

It wasn't so long ago that Tractor Supply *did* sell all the tractor parts and tried to stick to their guns like y'all think they should. They almost went out of business!

Both Central Tractor and Quality Farm & Family swirled the drain for many years, sticking to their guns, trying to market to "real" farmers. They *DID* go out of business.

Sometimes you have to do what you have to do to survive... You should be proud of Tractor Supply for turning it around and finding a way to stay in business.

"Proud of TSC"? That would be a real stretch.

Don't get me wrong, no Average Joe can fix most of this new crap. Wiring harnesses that a guy can't bear hug are quite daunting. Alot isn't meant to be repaired, including some items TSC offers. Try adjusting or rebuilding a carb on a new mower or log splitter. You can't. Alot of pre-1985 or so ag stuff can be worked on by the farmer-mechanic and alot of this stuff is still being used. Plenty of wear parts on newer tillage, hay, planting and harvesting equipment can still be serviced by the farmer. Bearings, belts, and bushings still need to be changed.

As TSC has dumped their ag offerings left and right and today offer very little of anything new ag-wise, places like SHOUP thrive selling agricultural items of their choosing. New offerings are in each Shoup catalog. Improvements to existing equipment is often available to make it better than new. Obsolete, slow moving, unprofitable, or NLA offerings are dropped. TSC was once a sucessful innovator in creating, sourcing, and supplying tractor and equipment parts and ag related supplies to the public via catalog and retail stores. Where's their innovation today?

TSC is what it is. It's a wasted trip for most farmers.
