2 tractors to put down 2 inch wells to 50 ft.

I put my backhoe boom over the well-pipe- and hang a pulley and run a rope thru the pulley down to my Ford 9N and around the pulley. 150 lb. weight with a stem down the 2 inch pipe on on end of the rope. Up and down 50 times per minute.
I am looking for another alternative.
Thinking--mounting a big hyd. cylinder from a front wheel loader with the heavy weight on one end of the cylinder and dumping the hyd. oil fast back into the tractor reservior.
Any ideas---Not concerned with my safety---I am a geezer at 68 and have had a great run. Just looking for a new way to drive these pipes. This is on my own property.

Hey old man, (by 2 years) different equipment, but that is the way I've done it. I assume you are talking an inch and a quarter well. I have sand here but have seen clay to put up a good fight. I wish you well! (pun intended) joe

Maybe I am too young but I would sure be looking at a pneumatic hammer system if I wanted to do something like this fast. Maybe I have hammered too many pylings

Thats the way my neighbors post driver works. But it uses a little cylinder, maybe 1.5 in. Looks to be made from a regular pipe. It has a 500 lb weight and a regular hyd valve. You have to watch the weight, when it is a little wet don't want to take it to the top. (it is 16 ft tall altogether) will drive the post in to deep with one hit. You are right have to plumb the return line directly into the hyd tank.

Would love to see a pic of that operation. Always wanted to know how a well is driven. Around here they are bored or drilled.

used a small pile driver once that had a car rear end for the lift, simple but effective, pto drove the rear end pinion shaft, one axle had a cable drum mounted on it to raise and drop the hammer it also had a lock on the drum to hold it in the raised position, the other side still had the brakes in working order activated by master cylinder with a lever that controlled it,with the pto running the brake drum rotates free, cable drum sits still with a little tension on the cable, pull the lever brakes locked the drum side causing the cable drum to rotate lifting hammer, release the handle the brakes free spun hammer drops,in today's world filled with over zealous SAFTEY NUTS what i've just described is probably illegal so you didn't get any ideas from me,not that i'm any way against doing things in a safe manner for one it's a good to possibly live longer

My neighbour invented the hydraulic post driver when he was about 19...got royalties on the patent for about 20 years....now everyone sells them. Look up Hydraulic post drivers on google images, I am sure you will see something suitable and safe!

Sorry... my photo did not upload the first time ....so, have a think about this set-up...it can be tractor mounted if it is more convenient.

lenray,
Below is a link to deeprock, I have never used em,but looked at their litterature a while back.Ended up up having ours (6" well) drilled by our local company. Too many hard rocks to try to punch thru. Just a little info to help.
