I am think about selling my 4960 serial # 1001 and suggestions what i should ask for it,It has 4500 hours and is in great shape.

If its the first one ever made, keep it, then you can always say you have the first one, and the value will probebly keep going up on it, my opinion.

Check out Successful Farming as they just did a story on 4955's and 4960's. If you do not mind somebody taking a cut to auction it then that may be the way to go. Good chance of making more that way than setting a price. Be warned that having the first 4960 is not the same as having the first 9N, Farmall M, 4010, 4020, 806, etc.. in a lot of people's minds.

Call Walter & Bruce Keller of Forrest Junction Wisconsin, They have between 50 and 60 John Deere Tractors that are the first models built. That's where your tractor belongs and should retire with 630 of its friends

It mite be a good idea to hang onto it. It should be worth more in the future. Also it would be fun to see others "drool " over it at a show.
If you are selling it , like others said , talk to the Kellers. I sold them a tractor yrs ago. Walter is a very good guy to do business with. I will highly recommend him. clint
