Well I have 44 eggs in the incubator which is here in the office/computer room. So sat down this afternoon and hear a cheap cheap so maybe by tomorrow I will have a bunch of chicks in here and then a week latter a few ducks I hope

From the title I thought maybe people were talking about me. ;)
Congrats on the new additions!
Not counting your chickens before they're hatched, just wishing good results!

44 of 'em huh? I suppose you are operating on the turkey strategy, where ya' start with about five times as many as ya' figure to end up with?

When I saw "Cheap, cheap, cheap", I thought maybe you knew my brother in law.

I think young chicks say "cheep, cheep, cheep", don"t they?

One young chick I dated years ago always said "No". I always wondered what it took for her to say "OK"!

That there is the craziest thing I ever did hear! New-born chicks don"t know sheep from shinola, much less how to spell human words. Besides, they would "pronounce" the two words identically - if they knew anything about pronunciation! Of course, if they were store-bought instead of home-hatched, all bets are off.

Aww old, you should post some pics after more hatch. Chicks are adorable... grown chickens, I do not like (except for eating).

Well so far as of this morning I have 2 that have hatched and 17 that show signs of trying to hatch. I have an old incubator that I put them in after they hatch and use it to help dry them off and keep them warm. I then after a day or 2 place them in a big plastic storage type thing I have that is covered and has a light in and keep them there till they feather out real well and then move them to the chicken house. Some times I get lucky and the hen that I have sitting on duck eggs will hatch the eggs about the same time so she mothers the chicks and ducks

Hills....

I went out to my brooder house and double-checked; I distinctly heard "Cheep, cheep, cheep". Nary a "Cheap, cheap, cheap".

I asked them if they knew what a sheep was, one of them said her uncle said something about a "Sheap", but didn"t know about a sheep.

Sadly, not a one of them knew anything about shinola. More"s the pity.

If yer from the hills, maybe you can help me with a couple questions: I have heard that cows in your hills have 2 short legs and 2 long legs so that they can stand level on those hills. Is there anything to that? What do they do if they want to face the other way?
