MH44 EFI Running with computer monitoring

I got the tractor running today with the computer monitoring it. I have a couple of issues to resolve, as the RPM is bouncing and missing a connector for the intake air temperature.

The O2 sensor is WORKING, a correct air/fuel mixture should be 14.7 with correlates to a voltage of about .45 volts, mine is running way rich.

I have been working on adding electronic fuel injection and spark on my MH44. I have the instrumentation installed and running on carburetor and distributor right now. I want to work the bugs out before converting.

For those of you that notice, ignition timing is at 0 TDC, so I can make sure my timing wheel is set correctly. I am going to take the timing light and verify TDC before I apply advance.

David I have to ask WHY???? LOL You are taking a tractor that is reliable and simple and loading it down with all the electronic JUNK that most of us cuss about. So WHY??? Just to see if you could type of thing???

I am just curious. I have been reading all your updates. You are putting a lot of work into this and I just wonder WHY???

Is this something that could monitor these functions on any tractor? How involved to attach sensors? I'm thinking this would be an interesting addition to horsepower testing

It will run much better when I am done, and it is something I enjoy. I work with electronics and automation every day in my job. The blends my hobby with my occupation.

David,

I am in your corner, I build engines for pullers and have often thought about the advantages of electronics.

Since the advent of electronics I have seen engine life go from 50, 75,000 Mi. to over 320,000 on an 87 Olds Delta 3.8 that I had a few years back and I attribute a lot of that to the engines not being washed down by sticky automatic chokes washing down the walls during warmup.

What you are doing is interesting stuff and I do not see why anyone would object as long as you are not asking them to finance it for you.

If you do not mind I would be interested if you would keep me up to date with your progress and results.

Excellent. I have been following all your posts.

Mechanical is simple, but electronic is WAY more accurate. I be interested to see a dyno pull if any more HP is gained.

On my supercharged 454 Chevy, when I went to monitoring the boost in combination with the nitrous it added a lot of safety to the motor. Also monitor fuel and oil pressure. If anything goes wrong it shuts down. Never cared about the NOS pressure, if that drops you just richen up the motor for a few seconds.
