Here is a picture of my BIL riding the potato planter. We planted 350 lbs of kennebks{spelling}in about 3 and a half hours. The planter works good except the owner lost the bucket chain that feeds the potatoes,we actually have to ride on the back and drop the potatoes in the turntable. If anyone has any chains or fertlizer hopper for this machine i would be intrested. We also got some cabbage, beets, green onions, and leaf lettuce planted and got a small rain Sunday

Does that machine plant them with the eyes up. When I was a kid Dad was a stickler for planting them with the eyes up, if you didn't he would make you go back and change them. The only thing that did was make them come up evener. I guess things get passed down from generation to generation as I had my grandson help me plant last year and I want them planted the same way. He couldn't figure out why the sprouts had to be up. And of course Dad had to plant them in the right sign, which I do believe makes a difference. Not so by the younger generation.

What kind of chain? A flat link or rollers? Any equipment dealer should have a variety of implement chains, one should fit... might have to put the planter on a trailer and bring it there, but usually chains are a common item.... yeah that's alotta work!

Nice picture. Looks like you better get busy, about 20 more acres behind you in that picture that need planting!!!
