Planted our tomato plants today and got alittle seat time on the ol Ferguson. Put in 54 tomatoes today and will but in another handful of tomatoes and about 20 peppers of different flavors. Knee is tired from working the clutch so much.

Looks like you're serious about tomato planting. I don't blame you, if I had a post hole digger I'd probably use it too. I'm including a picture of tomatoes I started from seeds 16 days ago.

(quoted from post at 19:25:33 03/29/13) Those are some mighty big holes. How big of tomatoes are you planting?

They get a special mixture of compost and fertilizer then mixed up real good and back filled with dirt. Gives the maters some good deep tillage to put down good roots in.

Dave, have you tried the purple passion asparagus?
its taste better than the regular and cost a little
more but it is good. we have eaten it raw with
ranch dressing. if you order it then you need to
order it early.

aarolar,
I plan to use my PHD to plant tomatoes, but will need to wait 4-6 weeks.

Going to plant 1 inch pvc pipe next to tomatoes for staking purposes.

Then I have some grass clippings from last year and plan to mulch the spaces between. Also have no plans to water or fertilize spaces between so hopefully no weeds will grow.

I am planning on the same thing minus the PVC for staking I would like more information on that. I am looking into drip irrigation this will be my first year attempt at market gardening if all goes well I intend on doubling my operation next year.
