Forty years ago today 3-29-73 last of the combat troops left Vietnam. I would like to say thank you for your service.

And here we are 40 yrs later and Korea is going to repeat history. Lets face it , Korea was watching closely when we left with our proverbial tail between our legs. That was one sad day in our country's history and to be all over TV for all to see. I totally respect and thank everyone who did their duty to their country,as did I , ( I graduated in 1969 and was number 53 for you who remember the lottery , so you know where I went and it wasn't college). If the NVA can humiliate us that way then don't think Korea won't try. Too bad our comanders in chief can't make a commitment and back up the soldiers in their little political endeavors. Why isn't external_link over there having talks with the Korean idiot right now? Seems to have plenty of time to go golf with Tiger! What a worthless idiot. He won't go but we better keep those defensless troops over there guarding the "border". Im done.

Ron,I had the privaledge to work with the POW when they were sent to our base{ Sheppard Air Force Base]i I ran errands and worked in the press room. Most were in perty good shape, and most re-enlisted

Our intel has sucked for years (pearl harbor) and the list goes on. Who says that stupid kid with the bad hair cut can not drop 30-40 ICBM with nukes on the US. Who do you think will help the US get off the floor? The ragheads? China?

Remember that day well.

Thanks for all you did, Vets!

What has BO been doing with the war he's had since he took office? Why didn't that give the economy a boost?

Ah but it was not till 1975 that all are people where out and it was also some time in 1974 or 75 before the draft was dropped. I went in in 74 ans I am still considered a Vietnam era vet and in June of 74 my draft card was 1-A so I was going to be drafted no matter what but I joined the Navy before they could draft me

I am a 1972 nam vet. I am real tired of us that fought being blamed for losing the war. We didn't lose the war.The idiots in Washington did.

Amen, brother. I was there for Tet, 1968 We took everything that they could throw at us and held our ground. Gen. Giap, the commander of the NVA noted in his memoirs that they were beaten then. BUT....Walter Cronkite said different " That we had lost the war" and the American public bought it. Between Hanoi Jane Fonda and the leftist media we faced an enemy at home as well as in the field.

i have a friend who has often said there is no way that ended up as the mess it became.
he said we should could have rid the planet of that rat hole.
he fly hueys when he was there and is now felling the affects of agent orange.

Exalted as he is, I've always thought Walter Cronkite has the blood of 56,000 American combat troops on his hands.

A lot of difference between a Vietnam era vet and a Vietnam Vet. Ask the ones who were there.
Yes we are all veterans, and all deserve that respect, but still a difference.

Last combat troops left Vietnam in 1973.

Ya but in 1975 there was a navy ship sitting out at sea taking on people who where still in country. As for what you say about a vet if it was not for those who where on ships and other such things the guys in country could not have lived long let alone got back out
