This lifted from an article in Fox News online:

"A loaded 12-gauge shotgun was found in the glove compartment of the Honda Civic Lanza drove to the school with two magazines containing 70 rounds of Winchester 12-gauge shotgun rounds".

How big a glove compartment does a Honda Civic have?

Two magazines containing 70 rounds for a 12 guage?

What the heck kind of 12 guage?

Did this writer have even an inkling of what he was writing about?

To the abundant media, any gun is bad, and if they can make it sound worse they will. Get the by line of the author, his name might be Darwin gobble

If 12 guage rounds are about 3/4 inch in diameter, a 70 round clip would be over 4 feet tall.

Oh, and when's the last time you saw a shotgun with a magazine (clip)? Mossberg used to make a bolt action, but I haven't seen one in years.

I thought someone made a shotgun that had round mags like a tommy gun ? But maybe this was only for in movies ?

Either way if not maybe we should as they would sell like hotcakes ! Every glovebox should have one.

Here"s one from Cheaper Than Dirt"s website. Of course its sold out.

Check if you can find the story from another source: AP, etc. Compared to other sources, Fox News is not very accurate with their "facts".

The pictures at the time showed a "assault rifle/assualt weapon" found in TRUNK of car- this led to confusion of weapons used- the line at the times was pistols only used to shoot since the "assualt rifle" was in trunk of car. Then came coroner saying bullet wounds were almost all .223 and casings found were mostly 5.56 Nato/.223. So back to initial pictures of the officers recovering "Assualt Rifle" and it was noted to be a Kalasnikov instead of m16 pattern- then was noted to be a shotgun on police inventory forms. Back to pictures and some firearms dealers and gunsmith instead of media flacks were asked what is it? Response was likely a Kalashnikov derived shotgun popular with some people now sold under Baikal and Saiga names- it has 5 round, 10 round, 20 round detachable box magazine similar to the slightly curved Kalashnikov rifle pattern, same basic rotary bolt, gas operated action and is noted for reliability and ease of maintenance, moderate price- all good points of proven Kalashnikov design. Drum magazines of RPK pattern also noted popular in .410 caliber for a couple markets as home defense, security use, utility hunting. Implication is that a 12 bore magazine might also be made- now it seems that the 12 gauge drum is made and in demand.

yeah - I had to laugh at that one too!

And I love headline in USA today - describing the "arsenal" police found at his home.

because he had what - the bushmaster, a glock, one other rifle, and this one shotgun (stuffed into his glove compartment).

Nothing more annoying than people who know nothing about guns become instant experts

I love this headline to: Newtown school gunman fired 154 rounds in less than 5 minutes

154 rounds in 5 minutes...

that's obviously supposed to conjure up images of a lunatic with a machine gun strafing the classrooms. - but if you do the math - that's 2 seconds between every shot. I could go faster with my double barrel shotgun.

The problem with idiots like this reporter is they end up pushing normal citizens to take the side of the SHOOTER.

Imply he's insane because he owned 5 or 6 guns - and most of America has to argue on his behalf because many of us own more!

Jr, you're right on the money.
We had a anti gun protest in Des Moines a few weeks back and the reporter (to her credit) asked a woman what she defined as an assault rifle and she said she didn't know all the particulars about them, but knew that nobody needed them. Brilliant!!

Reminds me of the time when the FBI and the news media was laying siege of Randy Weaver's house.
They kept calling his house a fortress and strong-hold, when in reality all it was; was his home up in the mountains.
But to hear the news media a person would think he was about to take out the US goverment

I've read 5 or 6 versions of the article, only one said glove compartment, I'm guessing a reporter/editor pair rushing to get the article out missed it OR as I've been reading lately many of the big news orgs have computer story writing programs that take a shot at writing instantly based on the press releases and feed the story to the editor.

That's beautiful.

Although I have to say, living in Massachusetts I hear that sort of intellectual gold on a daily basis.

And I like then number of time the NRA membership card is mentioned in all the articles!

Boy, no agenda there.

"Imply he's insane because he owned 5 or 6 guns"

What's even more troublesome is that he didn't own the weapons.
The articles I read said we need to make the laws stricter because
these were "legally purchased".
Yes, they were, but not by the shooter. He stole them.
He stole them from his mother and killed her too.
More/different laws won't stop the criminals, we all know that.

Yeah, unlike MSNBC, CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, etc. that are always soooo much better at getting facts right.

Seeesh!

Conneticutt news media or law enforcement, are nothing but liars.
A couple weeks ago, a TV news crew from Hartford started setting up a tripod etc in a class room at Manchester Com College, kids asked what was up, they said 'there was going to be a gunman captured on the campus'. There were there to get the story.
Errol Flynn would be proud, pretty gallant to set up a tripod and sound equipment in the valley of death eh?
Professor didn't like they were in his space without notice, he called security- they were baffled, 'Gunman? we didn't report a gunman!' So a while later... a swat team van showed up at the front entrance... when storming throught the automatic doors, the first one was shot in the back by the swat team memeber behind him. Ambulance showed up to get him, kevlar took most of the impact, manfunctioning door was to blame... everyone left... kids say 'YO MAN! what about the crazed gunman on campus???" Oh, forgot about that. So a couple hours later they questioned a student who has a permit and did have a handgun locked in his car, so no charges filed....
Staged gun violence event canceled due to officer down incident... should have had a professional stuntman/actor huh??? The more I hear, the less I like.

(quoted from post at 04:32:05 03/29/13)
Maybe they should ban Honda Civic's.

Sounds reasonable to me! Nobody needs a car that reliable. Besides, they go too fast and have great fuel economy. If the car didn't start or had run out of gas, he would have never gotten to the school. Also, the black ones are "scary" looking. We should restrict the size of the glove box as well.

Check out some of the videos on Youtube if you want to become really sceptical of the whole event. Granted there will always be crackpot "conspiracy theory" types out there, but there are also some that know a conspiracy when they see one and aren't afraid to say so. In this case anyone who can watch news footage and listen to what both the police involved say, as well as what was reported by the news media and don't believe that there was something HINKY about the whole afair has to be so brainwashed it isn't funny.

Ultimately there are WAY TOO many things wrong with what we all can see and hear about the incident to believe it was anything but a staged event. Staged for what reason, or reasons, beyond the obvious, who knows.....but staged none-the-less. The video in my link is over an hour long and it's only part one, but take a look and see how you feel about things afterwards. I fast forwarded through much of it, as I had watched another video with some of the same info two months ago, but there was alot of new stuff in this one that I hadn't seen before. Beyond that there are many, many others with the same and different info that will all lead to the same conclusion if you watch them. Take a look and let us know what you think when your done.....

Maybe done by the same blond fox air head that reported this afternoon. She said that B52 stelth bombers were flying over South Korea.

My first thought "Say what '?? B52 stealth bombers ??.Is no such critter. She then switched to another reporter who said that both B52 bombers and B1 stealth bombers were flying over South Korea to do a little "saber rattling" at North Korea.

I remember a discussion on Fox a day or two after the east coast school shooting. One of the male reporters was worked up about how totally inaccurate so much of the early reports were. He asked, shouldnt we get the facts first before reporting ?? Blond air head instantly junped on his idea, saying " Oh no, it is important to report something, even if it is wrong, we can go back and make corrections later"(As if they ever do that).

To her and most 24 hr news talking heads, it's a rating game to attract viewers and advertizing money. Factual news reporting has very low priority compared to manufactured outrage.

(quoted from post at 12:31:50 03/28/13) Probably was a sawed off shotgun with a mechanical ammo belt feeding shells drom a ammobox located under the seat.

Either you need to add some smilie faces because you're joking or you have no clue, at all!

I recall a similar event, same wording in fact, but it wasn't a Fox correspondent saying it, it was a big wig from another, less successful, news network, MSNBC IIRC.
