Tires, need advice

I bought a 15.5x38 Titan tire. It is made in the USA. I have mostly bought my tractor tires one at a time as need required. I never had any problem with the tires being the same size until now. The Titan is almost 4 and 1/2 inches larger in dia. than the Goodyear opposite it. The tractor sits lopsided. Has anyone else experienced this and what did you do? SWMBO is being very supportive and thinks I should buy a matching Titan, but I hate to waste the money and the Goodyear is in good shape. Thanks, Ellis

Buy the other new tire, and sell the old GY, 38's still bring pretty good money, even used. Make sure both of your rims are the same, first, though.

Aint much you can do. The specs for the tire that you listed are for the rim size and have nothing to do with the outside measurements.....so yer stuck with finding a matching tire, for one side or the other.

Since you have her support and permission you better take advantage of the opportunity...LOL!
She wants you to be happy!!

In years past, I routinely bought Titan tractor rears because they were noticably wider than similar sized tires from other manufacturers.

I'd probably buy a new one for the other side. We put titan long bar/short bar tires on our loader tractor and it raised the rear end several inches over the Firestone f&r's that were on it. We also put used Armstrong's on our 285 back in 2011. Raised that tractor a few inches as well over the Powermarks L/S that were on it.

Well.....either buy a new matching tire.....or.....the other option would be to find a tree, pour a concrete pad in front of it, chain your tractor securely to the tree.....lock the "short tire" axle with the steering brake.....put it in reverse.....and let her eat till your tires are the same height....but then you will have another wore out tire......and who knows what all else.......

so......buy another tire!!!!

Try Tire Town. They have used take offs. They many times have singles. Someone busts one of a set and trades the good one in on a new set.

I have dealt with these guys for twenty years. They have always treated me well.

Just run it... unless it bothers you that much. In that case I'd find a matching GoodYear... Those olde GY's also had a bit different aspect ratio to them and they were a bit smaller. I had a tractor lopsided like that for several years with a Firestone on one side and the GY on the left. It never hurt anything other than it was difficult to keep things pulling straight at times under heavy draft.

Not uncommon. Not just a newer problem. I had that happen 50 year's ago with USA tires. I don't know why, but sometimes a lot of difference between brands,
