I have a 560 diesel with a loader. Today the loader would not lift and sounded like a sort of whine noise from the pump area when the lever was pushed to make the loader move. The drawbar would raise and lower, but also heard the noise from the pump. After running for about 10 minutes also heard the noise when the steering wheel was turned and had very little assist on the steering/ I checked fluid level and looks to be full. I had changed the fluid and filter about 3 years ago, but use it very little
 
Sounds like its starving for oil...CHANGE the filter! after 3 years it needs it,the hours donrt matter.Hydralic filters are probably the most neglected thing on a tractor....BTW,On an IH tractor,anytime you have ANY hydralic trouble.change the filter first.You can safely add 3-5 gallon of hydralic oil overfull.Helps suction on the pump
 
WE had a 460 and one winter day the same thing happened to us at home. I pulled the filter out and it had ice build up on it. Replaced the filter and all worked like it should.
 
400/450-460/560 are one of the worst tractors for getting moisture in the hyd. oil, they don't make enough heat, once the filter gets saturated with water it's junk, time for a new filter and Hytran from Case, not a no- name hyd. oil, it has superior moisture carrying ability
 
I pulled out the filter today and was full of gunk, ordered a new filter, will proceed further tomorrow. Thanks for all the help. I grew up with h and m so didn't know anything about 560 maintenance.

I would check to make sure that it has adequate oil in it then run it enough to get it hot before dropping the oil. This way you will suspend some crud and get it out with the oil.
