larry@stines,

Cool but really sad photos.

You sent me looking for more... here is a link to a vid of inside the buildings (not totally clear - but worth watching for the various views, though the guys shooting vid, do a minor bit of dumb vandalism near the end).

I would LOVE to take photos there!
inside the abandoned factory

Very interesting video. When I saw the guys climb the fence to get in it had "lawyer" written all over it. Then one of the guys almost falls down a hole. Explain that when you call 911. I'm surprised they exposed their identy. Also surprised the corp. doesn't cut the place up for scrap steel. Reminds me of what's happened to Detroit.

gtractorfan,

Yep, I had the lawsuit thought also - though one should NOT be able to do that when breaking and entering...but I am sure it does happen.

And yes, if videoing in an abandoned factory - one had better watch where walking.

Most places like that would need to be remediated if torn down, it is cheaper to leave them standing.

The last I saw of Bethlehem"s Lackawanna works was in 1985-1986 just before the 3" bar mill shutdown. Really sad to see. I"m told the whole lakefront has been developed into condos now. I would love to tour the mill buildings left down in Bethlehem. I"ll download those videos, thanks for posting!

A good video , but very sad to look at. We were by that mill several yrs ago , not a pretty site.
30 some yrs ago , I had reason to look thru a large abandonded lead/zink roller mill in Il.We were looking to get a huge steam eng. out of there, which did happen.
It makes a person stop and do a lot of thinking about these old factories and how they helped to make this country great back then. clint
