I always heard the phrase, "If you don"t like the weather in Illinois,just wait 24 hrs." It was sunny and 53 degrees yesterday, today it is 30 and expecting 8-10 inches of snow. Visibity is less than 1/4 mile.
 
You have thave that right. Yesterday I was working in my shirt sleeves putting new sweeps on the field cultivator and later putting the planter monitor in the tractor, the same tractor I later hooked up to the snow blade. I got about an inch over night but now it is snowing heavy and like you said visibility is about a quarter of a mile.
 
We got about a foot in NEKS but it is hard to tell as it drifted so bad. I went the mile to the blacktop and back and it drifted my tire tracks shut in that amount of time. I had the loader about three foot up and it drug the drifts in a few spots. I don't think the plow will come through anytime soon because of the wind. It is very heavy though, so it might stay put when they plow it. I could stab clumps and pick them up with the pitchfork - man they were heavy. I was wishing I still had the chains on the blading tractor. Took those off on a 50 degree day.
 
We got around 2" last pm and was windy but no snow this am. It is snowing now, 2pm and wind around 20 mph. We are to get another 1 - 3 today and flurries tomorrow. We are south of I 74 in central IL.
 
Heard the Thunder about noon, at Fairfield. On the
way home Rt 45 was slick! The wind was biting
cold,but has layed now. Has quit snowing now, but
the ground is white. Guess will snow more tonight.

we"re having a good snow here in Va. right now this Sunday at 5pm . they say it will last through tomorrow.
 
We have lived in 15 states and have never lived in one except Ca that didn"t say the same thing. Always folks said it was only true in their state. So what gives?
 
I"ve heard we have around 8 to 10 inches now. We can barely see the neighbors lights a half mile away. I cleaned the drive this afternoon and this stuff is really wet. good moisture.
 
I was out scooping snow about an hour ago and I measured 10" deep in some spots. And just yesterday I had the tractor out running around with no jacket on!
 
I was just out and its nasty. Still snowing and one state highway is closed for about 10 miles because of about 45 cars off in the ditch. I plowed the neighbors drive out so she could go to work and came home. The wind was blowing it back as fast as I could plow it. Got her to the highway and there was a plow there so she followed it.
