Springfield 1911

We all know the firearm situation we have had and difficulty ammo guns etc. I"ve been narrowing it down my choice for a 1911 45. Still hard to come by in our area but found a Springfield, on my list this week picked up today. Wanted a loaded but got a range officer. I had never had a 45 before and I gotta say wow. First sa the dealer has received this year my timing was good. Might change the rear sights but the price was right and something about the Springfield made me be patient. Lots others out there and better I"m sure but I"m happy.

Got a Remington R1 myself. I looked at the Springfields but something about the Remington just felt better. My favorite though is my Kimber Crimson Ultra Carry II, what fine piece of machinery! Good luck with your Springfield, 1911's are awesome.

That is a great target gun. The adjustable rear sights are awesome.

If I were replacing sights, I'd replace both with night sights.

I got an SA 1911 a couple of years ago; like it just fine. Curious: mine has a skeletonized hammer; does yours? Also, what are they selling for these days? Think I paid $650 for mine.

In January I got a Browning 1911-style .22; it's 15% smaller than full-size 1911, and much lighter--its an aluminum alloy. Still haven't fired it because I can't find any .22 LR ammo.

Most of the actual gun shops around here keep ammo in the back so when you buy a gun you can get a few boxes of ammo with it. Nothing worse then buying something and not getting all the pieces. Where are you located? Plenty of ammo to go around here in SD.

It is awesome to me my first 45 1911. One dealer had a ri Remington very nice but I liked my grips better. That one was actually the toss up. So many out there but not much to choose from in my price range. Paid $870 was fine with it not the so much percent below retail we use to see just glad to get one and ammo for it one word the first time I fired it"wow"

Jerry mine has the skeleton trigger and Casey There was no ammo on the shelves but a box appeared for someone purchasing a new gun. Keeping it under wraps

I'm in northwest Louisiana. To clarify, I'm not out on a continuing daily search for ammo. I just look every time I'm in a store. I'll find some one of these days.

Here's a photo of my toys: Papa Bear, Momma Bear and Baby Bear.

Nice buy. I've been a .45 fan for many years. My current one is a Rock Island 1911 that I'm very happy with. Came with the wide beaver tail, skeleton hammer and trigger. I put a fiber optic front sight on it. Shoots a nice group at 50', I've put about 1,000 rounds through it so far. I relaod and have pleanty of componets so ammo isn't an issue for me. I did get a brick of .22 last time I was in Baxter MN at Fleet Farm for 18.95 along with some 30 cal carbine ammo at 25 bucks for 50 rounds.

Now if I could just find some more 6.8 SPC brass I'd be a happy camper!

I had a Springfield 1911 one time. The only thing I didn't like about it was the rear sight. It was difficult to aim because you would have to aim extra low or the gun would shoot high. If it had a adjustable rear sight this could have been fixed.

I have a Springfield mil spec 1911A .45 in parkerized finish.

When Springfield reissued them maybe ten years ago, I just had to have one 'cause it's identical to the one I carried in the Marine Corps. As I recall, I paid $440 for it new in the box back then. It's been flawless.

I also sprung for a military holster and web belt. First time I belted it on, I was amazed at how natural it still felt. Guess old friends are like that.

Great gun. I'm a big 1911 fan and have several.

Here in Houston .45 ammo is easy to find and lots of it. No rationing. It's the high capacity 40sw,.380,9mm and of course .22lr that's no where to be found. What you can find they are price gouging bad. Those that aren't price gouging ration 1 box at a time. .22lr is going for upwards of $.20+ per round on gun broker.

The high capacity hand guns and .22 rifles sell as fast as they get them in. Local store was charging $400. for a synthetic blued Ruger 10 22. They got 6 in and sold out in a couple hours. That is normally a $249. gun.

Several local gun stores that I USED to shop at are price gouging. I will never buy a single thing from them again.
