I"m cleaning the Zenith carb from my Farmall 140 and when I split it and turned it over to get the needle valve out a spring and a headed shaft came out of the needle. Is this ok? I don"t remember seeing that before even though I"d rebuilt the carb a long time ago. All I can remember are solid needles. Thanks, Jacques

More moveing parts on something that has worked fer 70 or 80 years do Yes. why the ell does it matter to you anyway.

The idea is for the spring to give a little in rough ground.Supposed to keep needle from hammering seat.I've never had one cause any problems unless I lose the pin or spring.

Thanks for all the replies, guys. Before I put the carb together today I moved the float up & down to watch the action of the parts in the needle. At first I thought it was pretty sloppy but it looked liked it would cushion the movement of the needle. It must be ok "cause the 140 started 1st crank and I was able to grade the spot I wanted to clean up with the belly blade. Jacques
