Neat photos. Do you know the story of the building? Looks like it could have burned a long time ago, or was it just abandoned?

Just think how long it would have taken to stack all those stones to make that church. Not only do you have to find them all, ya gotta get them up there too. A lot of work.
I wonder how long ago it was abandoned?
Neat pictures.

So Larry you are in to stones..How was the walls constructed. Rocks mortared together as one would lay bricks then the outside smeared with mortar or concrete? Almost looks like they built a big form and filled it with rocks and mortar. I would bet what was left is the result of a fire. Really interesting photos. All we had in those days here in Tennessee were log cabins... LOL.

Great pictures.

I like what appear the "No Trespassing" signs on the front door to keep people out. You could meander around the side of the building and walk through what use to be the wall.

When dad built our milkhouse back in the early '50's, he put up what would amount to one side of a concrete form, on the inside of the wall. Built a rock wall, with rock exposed to the outside, but put mortar in behind the rock as he went, to form a smooth concrete wall inside, as was required in a milkhouse. Went up about 4 feet, then a short stud wall on top, with windows. Made a pretty good building.
