A generation gone forever. These old pictures sure seem to show an innocence/happiness that doesnt come across a lot in this world of technology now.

I sure agree with you 1963,to me so many values are gone, neighbors helping neighbors, large gardens, self sustaining farms.

Thanks John its a great picture, and I wonder what was in his lunchkit for lunch?!! HeHe
Enjoy your pictures every day

He's smiling because he's just SO happy not to be looking at the north end of a southbound horse for yet another season of fieldwork.

We've come a long way baby! But no, I wouldn't want to be looking at the north end of southbound horses all day. My dad was experienced with steel cleated tractors when he was young, once I commented on the great traction they must have had and he told me about the wheels filling up with soil like the first picture.

That smile is exactly why I love this hobby so much. Every time I crank up my 1933 Hart Parr/ Oliver 18-27 I think about some fella,in 1933, getting on for the first time, with all the anticipation and expectations that "this new machine is gonna save me a lot of work and help me make a few dollars"!
