Ken Macfarlane 03-18-2013 19:21:33 142.177.130.59 Report to Moderator	We are busy modernizing the old dairy barn, bringing her into the 1950's with a hay conveyor running the length of the barn hung from the peak. Its a 60 ft Allied and it came with a nice rope pull kick off you can run from one end to the other. Of course we are at the complete wrong time of year to be doing this. Its 36 feet or so from the mow floor to the peak, there are 3 beams at 10 feet off the floor but that doesn't help much. How do I get up to the old hay track to hang the conveyor? It was a pull through centre load barn. I'm not really happy about putting up 6 lifts of free standing scaffolding on top of hay / pole floor, and that only gets me to one hanger. Also not really happy about climbing 60 feet of skeleton conveyor to the old rope window near the peak that needs enlarging. Roof pitch is 12/12 steel on the top pitch (gambrel) Do I need to break down and rent one of those towable manlifts? Should I install a winch and cable at each support so I can lower the conveyor for motor servicing? Surprisingly little information about hay conveyor installation on the web beyond Loyal Roth's website. [Reply]   [No Email]

The barn is 80" long the elevator inside is 60" long. Had it up in place in a afternoon. We had already prefabbed the mounting hangers & only need to go straight UP. It"s New Holland machine purchased near Clymer New York Complete for 80.00 at a auction, Has a pan thats moveable & will tip the bale left of right. We still put up 9500 square bales a year... We do a similar number of bales too, paid about 400$ for this conveyor. Looking for an old caged ladder to put up to the door instead of climbing the post and strapping inside. [Reply]  [No Email]

Some of the bracing is vertical whole some keeps the elevator from going too & fro. In other words... The Height we had the scaffol ended up being the total height off the floor. We'd just raise the block & tackle while we move the scaffol to the next mounting place. Lowerd it back down to where it just touched.. Reason why we got it so cheap was the barn it came out of was Empty.. [Reply]  [No Email]
