guidance system for spreading/spraying

What are some guidance systems for broadcasting/spraying that will prevent you from overlapping? I know there are some out there, just dont know what they are called. I"m not talking about autotrac or any of the super fancy systems either. Just the tractor mounted units that tell you when to turn for broadcasting or spraying.

The only one I am familiar with is Outback. I have an Outback light bar that I use occasionally. It's just a basic one, doesn't make a map or anything like that but it keeps me in line. If I stop at the end of the field to re-fill the planter or sprayer, the satellites will have drifted a bit and it will be a foot or so off for the first pass. Jim

Trimble is one they use around here for taking soil samples. It tracks many satellites so it's updated constantly and keeps you on track.

CASE IH sells one made by Trimble with a receiver and lightbar that will do what you need for about $1700 with the upgraded antenna. $1200 without.

For that price you should get an EZ Guide 250. At least then you can have a map to print off or could use EZ Steer with it later.

Depending how good your eyes are you might like the bigger screen on the EZ guide 500 as it is twice the size of the 250. That little black box has been a life saver for me when spraying. Or more of a money saver considering it shows me where to drive without overlapping.

We got a outback, used year before last. It doesn't make a map or anything. E-bay for $300. Now if you use the scale to know what your fertilize weights per square ft. You can set the spreader right on the money and it will come out. I love it. We also have a Trimble it is a little fancier. It will make maps and save information about fields etc. Have had to send it in to be worked on. FREE. Would not want to be without one. Makes spraying so much easier not having to look for your foam. Still use foam though. I shut off and turn on at the ends with foam, even though the gps warns and tells you. Bought it from a neighbor who went to full guidance, for $400 Vic
