Luke Patrick turns 15 tonite. As some of you may remember this is the teenager who is making me grey! He has been behaving a bit better of late and his grades are up as he wants to play lacrose.
I remember the St. Pat's day he was born. My wife was about a week overdue. Her dr. Had estimated Luke was over 8lbs and if he did not come soon he would have to induce labor. So my wife would go for walks 2 to 3 times a day to try to get labor started. Every morning i would get up and ask "today"? Should i go to work or stay home. Being self employed staying home meant no $. Sooo, on the 7th day i said. "i'm going to work afterwards going out drinking with my uncle Roger. Now uncle Roger is a memeber of the Anciet Order of Hibernians and in those days marched in the St. Pat's Day parade in NYC. We met up in the afternoon and got down to some serious celebrating. Sure enough, my pager goes off and its my nieghbor, retired nyc detective Bill Clinton. No relation to former president Clinton. He was panicking telling my i gotta get home Siobhan is in labor and going on. I remember thinking, "wow, he's lost it". So i bid Uncle Roger goodbye, hop on a Nbr 6 train and head up to Penn Station to catch a LIRR train home. Of course at this point im all excited and the trains are over flowing with drunken Irishman and women and drunks of many other nationalities. Eventually i get to my car at the station and get over to the hospital. My sweet MIL was there and glad i made it as it was getting close. So here i am, fairly inibreivated, Dr, and maternety nurse look at Siobhan, look at me, and who knows what they thought. Nurse's name was Nugent, and she had 10 kids of her own. Dr. was Guzman and she was great. Luke arrives at 804pm. He is 8 3, 22 inches. Dr. Guzman says to The nurse and my wife, "would you look at the size of the head on this kid!, GREAT job Siobhan!" The rest is history.
Happy St. Pat's Day all.
