Sf in a yard of Concrete

I'm thinking about pouring concrete in my kennel addition. I should know, but always get confused. If I pour 4" thick do I cover 27 sf or 81? Seems if you sliced 36" into 4" slabs you would have 9 layers x 3' x 3' or 81 sf.

My dad was in construction, and whenever anyone would complain about how awful things were going, his standard response was, "Well, at least we're not pourin' concrete."

But a dog kennel shouldn't be too bad. Have fun.

81 sf is correct--but just be careful that if you order 1 cy it may be more or less depending on the design yield of the mix.
