Hi Lyle, good luck, I know you can handle the situation. Some day's are good and some day's NOT so good. Cheers, Murray

The TD18 had a bit more of the "cool" factor but I think the cummins will offer plenty of POWER...

So since the Cummins is not really a variable speed engine (governer controlled at various speeds) will you simply pull it wide open and let it run governed out at top speed? I bet she can consume some fuel at that speed.... I wonder if cummins built a governor for the 350?

I vote for a 2 stroke Detroit for the next swap :) The neighbors will be able to hear you sawing that way. I'm sure they'll come a runnin to help:)

ummins was put in some farm tractors so I think I could get a gov. for the motor If I need one. Im gonna try it like this first

Man I am glad to see this.. I was scared to death you were going to spend some big bucks on an overhaul.. I see you are playing with the pulleys , I am sure you will work the speed out. Will be time and effort well spent. At least anything you spend on this set up will be moving forward. Sawing may be a little different in that governors will be different. Worst come to worst can get a governor off a old cummins powered gallion grader. Let us know when you get it fired up.

This...

Govs were built into the injection pumps. It's my bet the Cummins will respond quickly to varying loads. Just set the throttle speed and go for it. Consistant RPM shouldn't be a problem.

We have a crane with a variable gov. Don't know why cummins didn't do that on all their engines. will hold rpm's for hours if need be.

need your ph. # i know your close but might spend a day going to each neighbour looking for the lumberman.

You know I wanted to post last night that you would probably have the new Cummins hooked up and running in 24 hours.

I figured people would laugh at me on here if I said that. Well looks like my guess was right, you're almost up and running.

Always enjoy the pics.

Rick

we used to run a Cummins 335 power unit on our mill. That unit would SAW! Best we ever had but loud.

can you stand some questions ?
do you have a clutch with a pulley or a trans with a pulley ?
i nice simple cummaprt .lol .just fuel shut off . 1 wire and starter
and alt .
like it .thanks for pic's .
