I am still not allowed to lift my arm up, or pick up anything for a couple more weeks, then will start weight training. Mild pain all the time, with sharp pain during stretching. Really bored. The treatments were really painful but the results have been great. I had a friend with similar condition go the surgery route at almost exactly the same time and his recovery was twice as long. Oddly, even though the PEP therapy is used by athletes (and on our horses' soft tissue injuries) it's not an "approved" treatment by my insurance company, so it was all on my dime [Reply]  [No Email]

Also some bone spurs the surgeon ground down and trimmed up the end of the torn tendon and then pinned it in place with some sort of plastic straps. It's amazing what they can do through those small incisions. I was cut in 3 places, 1 incision was about 3/4" and the other 2 were only about 1/2" long. Started therapy yesterday. There was some pain when doing the stretching excercises but afterward it felt good to just be putting the arm and shoulder to use. Overall I have a littles less pain than I had before the operation, but my degree of mobility is still about the same as before I had surgery. Hopefully that will improve as therapy progresses. I'm thinking it will be at least 4 months until I get back close to normal. In the mean time bored stiff. Rick [Reply]  [No Email]

Everyone is different. I had rotator cuff torn and tricep and bicep torn, I just completed 4 months and one week since my surgery, I went back to work with no restrictions monday but the doc said don't over do it. I was in pain, mostly constant, to begin with but it got better with time and work. It hurt like hell doing therapy but the more i did it the less pain it was. I can now raise my arm above my head almost as far as the other arm. The worst part was working it behind my back, i still cant do it without pain. so i let that move just slide. Tell your loved ones to do all they can, if they say do ten moves then do twenty, it worked for me and im very happy with my outcome. [Reply]  [No Email]

I stretched,pushed a skilsaw cutting a 4x8 sht of plywood. Took several more weeks to get back to where I had been. Shoulder surgery recovery is a l o n g process. Remember... healing from surgery takes a long time. It just does. I have had three abdominal surgeries (one about a 7 inch incision). And even when you get feeling better - feeling great even... you will no doubt over-do on some project and it will kick your tail. Then you will hurt and feel like you just had surgery again. It is just part of the process. Takes months for your body to full heal. Take it easy and listen to the docs. Do your rehab, but don't push it and overdo. [Reply]  [No Email]
