The owner of this farm passed away last year and there are no longer any cows on the place but there's still quite a herd out there in his field.

When I was first married in 1956 I had yet to see the first deer in this area. We had no wild turkeys or coyotes.
Thanks to the pointy head State DNR wizards we now have an over abundance of all three to feed. But But No pheasants or rabbits to hunt. You see a rabbit or a pheasant now and then.

Several years ago, James saw 13 in the area we call "the bottom". Now we see only one or two.

Probably coyotes getting the fawns.

Wild turkeys and pheasants don't mix. A pheasant chick is just a big grasshopper to a gobbler.

Had 24 in our front yard at 4 pm this afternoon have counted as high as 43 at one time. One of the not so good things living next to a wildlife refuge. Deer and turkey but as the other poster very few rabbits or quail. All the Wildlife folks like to talk about fescue not being good for deer or them not liking it. They start in the winter wheat fields but have no trouble eating the fescue.

about that same time era we lived on my grandpa's farm near thompson il.
one morning at breakfast dad told us when he got the cows in for morning milking he saw a deer.
it was the only we knew about in the area.that deer was with the cows alot that summer.
