question about white geese

A huge flock of white geese landed in PA. I wasnt there,but heard all about it. White geese with black tips on the wings. The neighbors said they are snow geese. They all took off,but 1 lone goose is swimming in our pond,It doesnt seem to fly,it stays near the edge in the grass or swims . Im guessing it cant fly it goes in the water when you get close to it. I really dont want geese around the pond,but I guess one wont hurt,If the pond was froze a fox or coyote would have got it.

If it's only one then I don't think it's a geese, think they call them one geeses a driffent name but I could be wrong about that. Also I use to have a 8-n but I sold it. I don't feel so good.
 
Snow geese Larry. We also get a bunch of Tundra Swans in the Niagara River/Lake Ontario.
 
The one swimming may have a latent defect. One of our coastal hunters must have put a BB in it and it took awhile to take effect. One of the problems with hunting.

I had a dead Gadwall on my pool last week and hunting season has been over for quite awhile. I guess it had a latent defect too. I don't hunt and I enjoy them bobbing up and down eating my bothersom coon tail moss.

They are Snow Geese. We have more of them on the central flyway than Canadian. I had them returning home one spring land on my wheat patch. Was about 50 of them and they just would not leave. They would just fly around in circles over me till I left and land right back where they were. You know as well as I do that if I were hunting them you wouldn't see one for miles.

It will taste like chicken, or leave it for the fox! There are way too many of them! They have limited hunting so much that they are dying of cholera from living in there own $hit.
 
Take it some corn, or grain, or alfalfa. It may heal and fly away, or it will wither away and die.
I wouldn't chance eating a "cripples" goose.
