Good pics Erik, What are you cutting with the Massey? It kinda looks like alfalfa. If it is that is something we dont see here very often. It looks like it would take a long time to dry down v/s grass hay. Here in central Ga there are a lot of folks starting to bale square bales for sales to the horse owners in this area.

It was red clover, and it was difficult to get it dried down. Made very nice feed and 2 years later when I put corn in the ground it made 140bpa on an average year. That is a solid yield in this area.

Larry, always wondered, does your friend dairy? That's a real nice hay rig he has.

patiolant, how do you like the bale baskets? Looks like a good setup, hard to get help around here anymore.

We bought the baskets two years ago, and I don't know how I did it without them. It has reduced our time and labor 2 or 3-fold. With the kids grown up, my wife and I have to do most of it on our own now. The baskets were really helpful last year since we were literally racing the next rainstorm almost every time we baled. With the baskets, the baled hay never touches the field, and the baskets are easy to tarp if we don't have a chance to stack right away.

Almost everyone that does squares up here (Saskatchewan, Canada) uses NH stackliners. Personally, I hate them. Too many moving parts to wear out and adjust. The bale baskets are the ultimate in simplified engineering. Yes, you still have to stack the hay, but I would rather do that than have to take an extra trip around the field and fiddle with adjustments all the time.

I had to have the bale baskets shipped up from Illinois, and they turn a lot of heads since most people around here have never seen one.
