I have a 1958 International 650 Diesel that i just purchased, the guy i bought it from said he couldnt get it running and said the head may be messed up. I was wondering if anybody knew if i could convert the diesel engine to gas, i have a W-9 head in perfect condition but it is for a gas W-9, will this head work on a 650 diesel block, and is the 650 diesel block the same as a W-9 gas engine. Thanks, Tyler

TD 9 ih crawler would have your same head but again most if not all will be bad. Don,t think I have ever saw one that was not cracked or repaired.

have a look at both blocks and you will see they are not the same. if you want to switch to gas you need a gas engine, and that is some work also. take the diesel apart and see what is wrong before guessing. just because someone thinks something is wrong that dont mean a thing till you have a handle on the problem. i would say its the least amount of work to get the diesel fixed.

I'm not much of a diesel man if you know I mean, but I'm sure it's not running because either 1 the injectors or 2 the fuel pump, because it'll run on gas but when you switch it over to diesel it won't run

well first and simple thing is to check if its getting diesel to injectors.
#1 is the system bleed? can be that simple.
