Maybe save me a buck ?

My return line on my power steering broke where the rubber hose meets the metal line . The replacement is 82.00 i'm wondering if i can just buy some power steering hose and clamp onto the metal line that comes out of the steering box ? Its not running near anything hot. There is a loop of metal line near the bottom of the car . But if i ran a new line i could run it away from the ground . Is there a reason i would need these metal bends and loops other than road debris ? 99 alero

Some models have a few loops of metal as an oil cooler.

Return line could be clamped..pressure line may
blow a clamp, as it could be 1200 to 1500 PSI
depending on the pressure relief valve setting.
SAE spec 100R5 is certified for power steering
and Aeroquip dealers used to have reusable, hose
mender reusable ends for that hose that you
could braze on to that i"ve used for power steering applications woth good sucess!

My dads truck had a steel line rot out and we just cut it off and slipped a rubber hose on it and hose clamps. Thats been years now.

Metal loops are supposed to take out the vibation that breaks all-metal lines.

Maybe save me a buck ?
