Helping a friend OH (inframe) a 4430.Any 'secrets'?Any thing to pay special attn to?I understand you need to replace rodbolts(included in the kit). How about the headbolts? Thanks,Steve

Be sure to check the cam/oil pump drive gears. Deere makes a tool to bolt on where the tach drive is to check lash and wear. They wear thin on the cam and strip off and your engine dont run very much longer. Replace your oil pipes for your oil sump and pump. They just sit in there with o-rings and over time wiggle around and get thin or weak and can crack and cause lack of oil to pump. Good luck hope your cam is good. They can be a treat.

We always replace the head bolts, per Deere's recommendations. A shop foreman from a deere dealer told me that since the "10" series new generations the head bolts were designed to "stretch" and hold the head tight to the block. He said they were only good for one stretch. Once torqued down tight, always need to replace them.

As far as I'm aware the head bolts and the main brg. cap bolts are both "torque to yield" and need to be replaced. I'm not sure about the rod bolts.

You probably don't have a part number for that tool?
