Pics of our cool weather garden

downsouth,

Oh, I'm so jealous! Your garden looks beautiful. I love fresh green onions and radishes!

We are still covered in white. Starting to get some thawing recently, so that is good.

Yep, we love them too. Have to get them in early or it get's hot too early and they just aren't all that good then. Wife works with some Hispanic ladies and last year she offered them some free and they wouldn't take them, apparently they never had them and were afraid they would be hot. Let me see here, they eat jalapeno's but won't try radishes. Go figure. Farmer that leases land near us has 40+ acres of onions that are within a few weeks of harvest time already, amazing. Price was down on onions last year so a lot of them were just disked under. Such a shame. Same thing happened with cabbage too.

Ha! Larry, you better google zip 78559 and figure out how far from Jersy we are. Heck, it might just be daylight Friday when you finally get here if your driving straight through!

downsouth,

We like to clean and chill them and eat them just like that - sometimes a small sprinkle of salt.

My mom-in-law taught me to cut the small onions and all the greens up in chunks about an inch long and just sautee them (very briefly) them in olive oil or the fryings from pork chops. Good that way too.
