Local dealer has gone through several brands over the last several years. Right now his main brand is Deka. So far, they seem about as good/bad as others I have used.

Only Deka I've ever been around is in our JD 425 lawn tractor, and it's lasted for quite a while. Finally quit holding a charge last fall, so I'll see if I can find a new one this spring and see if I can get the same life out of another one.

Most others seem to be about the same to me...

About 15 years ago I started using gel cell batteries, Excide orbital and Optima, I even put them in the tractors. A battery failure around here is unheard of. For instance, the one in my Farm/plow truck will be 12 years old this summer.

I buy mine from Cosco. I took one back a couple days ago that wouldn't hold a charge. It was a couple years old. I got the cost of the barrery towards another. Stan

So if I could start a thread in a 1000+ open forums driving interest towards or away from a particular brand or family of brands could it effect the stock market enough to capitalize from the momentary trending interest?

of course the messenger gets shot

I'll let you know in about 7 years.

How do I know about something that will last as long.

Never heard of that brand. Has it been around 7 years.

is it a mispell for delco. I doubt delco makes squatt

There are only 2 maybe three manufacturer of lead acid batteries.

Or are we talking about disc button 9volt or telephone replacement batteries?

Do flashlights still use batteries?

Why don't batteries just last forever?

So maybe you will wait seven years to post again?

Interesting. I've never heard of Deka batteries either. I did a google search and it appears the nearest place I can get one is 60 miles away.

I've been unhappy with all brands of batteries. I currently have a 2009 Duralast battery in my work truck that is used nearly daily. According to my battery charger it's sulfated.

I use Walmarts best batteries in everything. Some have lasted 12 years. Hal

i started using walmart batteries for the cost, i tried using name brand batteries before but since there are only about3 companies that actually make batteries for everybody it really doesnt mater what i have learned is sears die hards should be called die fast, innerstate batteries, are supposed to be good ive got 1 ,5 years old now and its still going with regular cleaning of the posts, the rest are about the same so low cost gets it,if im only going to get 2 years out of a tractor battery might as well save some money

I get mine from Walmart, O'Reiley's or our local farm supply store. O'Reiley's keeps a record of your purchase in their computers which is what I like. A batter is like any other part of a vehicle it needs to be maintained. I check the fluid level in it every time I change the oil. I always get a battery where the lids can be popped off and you can look inside. Always wear safety glasses when working on or around batteries.

The manufactures will make any battery to the buyers specs.
There can and is many brand names attached to a battery of
the same specs. So, it's foolish to compare batteries by brand
name only. In most cases the buyer can negotiate a better
price based on volume. Whether the seller passes that lower
price on to you is not likely.

EPM or East Pennsylvania Manufacturing makes batteries in USA. They make the Deka brand and also make most of Oreillys batteries. Also make some of Briggs and strattons heavy duty ones. Just changed the twin 12V on my MF-690. Old ones were made by EPM got them at Oreillys; lasted 7 years. Tom
