14072 Grand Island. Smack in the middle of the Niagara River and short of the falls by a couple miles.

"Upstate" for the city folks is only about 30 miles north, anything further and it's the wilderness. I think that they think I'm in Canada...maybe near the north pole.

Yup--you can always tell someone is from downstate when they say they're from upstate! I'm by Watertown, about an hour north of Syracuse, and can be inside the Adirondack Park in about 10 minutes from my house. Pretty country if you don't mind the winters!

Met I guy said he was from upstate. Asked where, he says Poughkeepsie. He asked where I was from. I told him and he said I was from Southern Canada.

Well, that certainly counts as Upstate! Good luck if you're not just there visiting....

Was just in West Potsdam last weekend to a gun show. Spend 4 years in Potsdam during college (Clarkson) but that was in the late 80's. Sure has grown up since then!

(quoted from post at 20:18:18 02/26/13) I visit there, EJ Noble, Canton-Potsdam and Masenna Memorial.

My backyard.

I'm about 10 miles north of Gouverneur, 20 miles south of Ogdensburg. 45 minutes east of Watertown.

Yeah, "upstate" always cracks me up. "Upstate" is where nnalert used to live. When I was down for 9/11 I was talking to a female NYC cop. She asked where I was from, I said up on the NY/Canada border. She didn't believe NY had a border with Canada until I got a map and showed her. She also didn't know milk "still came from cows".

The thing that got me down there was when I 'd be standing with 3 city cops and someone would come up looking for directions and they'd ask ME, like a guy in a Stetson would be from NYC.

No kidding, I'm just down the road from you on dudley with a small dairy farm. I also work land just north of you on creek rd and on the corner of creek and dudley.

Not sure if this belongs here or not but from where I live ( 15 miles north of the US Canada border) we can see the streetlights of Malone at night..

You must be down by Keshequa Creek? Maybe used to be a donkey in there? Only one I know is Grover on that road. How many are you milking?

Yup, that's it. That donkey was a long time ago. The school bus used to stop every morning and all the kids would get on one side of the bus and watch because the driver would beep the horn on the bus and the donkey would start hee-hawing and they all liked it. I milk around 30 and have got 20 some heifers going to be milking in a year or so. I started milking here almost 5 years ago.

can I stop down? Would like to see the herd? What is a good time? zif its OK, tell me where I have to go when I get there>>

After the ice storm in'98 some army national guard troops from NYC were here to help with the clean up They stopped in front of my house while I was moveing some fallen branches. I stopped what I was doing and asked them how they liked northern NY.This black guy who looked like he should have played for the N.Y. nets( about 6'6") said he never knew there was anything to NY above Albany.

I'm north-east of Martintown Ontario. The main drag is called the King's Road and it is on a small ridge and gives a good view of the mountains over there. Malone is quite visible at night and sometimes you guys in the hills have snow on the ground when we don't. Kinda ironic

I used to be in Malone a lot. Still have some good friends up there.

Did it have to do with the job?If so I can understand why.

Yup, that and because Malone has some decent places to eat.
