The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals ordered 1600 pounds of venison, donated, professionally processed, and donated to a homeless shelter destroyed because one bonehead at a homeless shelter complained that he was being fed venison. What did he expect, sirloin?

The Department of H&H not only ordered the venison dumped into a dumpster, they ordered Chlorox poured over it so "animals wouldn't eat it and get sick and die".

The homeless shelter is non-profit, the venison was donated, the processing was donated, so how did the Department of H&H even have jurisdiction?

3,200 meals were lost. How many homeless went hungry because of some beaurocrat's abject stupidity?

It's mind boggling.
 
The other people who get to eat there should put some hot cream in his shorts.

That's the problem with feeding people for free.
 
The department of health and the entitled people really understand ONE thing--when there is nothing.
So stop donating!
 
Last year or year before, here in Minn a lot of venison was donated to food shelf etc and some one found traces of lead in meat so they had to throw it all out. Big push on to use steel bullets so game does not get contaminated. Now I guess they have found more precise way to determine if any lead fragments so they are allowing it to be donated again I think.
 
Ya and just think those are the people running our country. No wonder things are so messed up any more bone heads doing bone head things for the purpose of what making sure more $$ are wasted
 
It is absolutely hard to believe what some people will do! Around here several hundred pounds of deer meat are donated to soup kitchens each year. It is all professionally dressed and processed. Ain't heard nobody complain yet!
 
Think it would do any good to email them and mention the article, their actions, and say "What are you, stupid or something?". It's funny to me, for years now our kids are being taught in school that 'stupid' is a bad word, but it's gotten to the point that it's the only way to describe the actions of some. I guess these that it describes are the very ones wanting it to be a bad word rather than be called exactly what they were.........

Oh well, another 'feel good' plan from our esteemed (ie-stupid) politicians that didn't work.....LOL
 
Was kinda funny but in the late 80s a preacher (I don't much care for preachers but this guy was OK in my book) started a program to get hunters to donate 1/4 of a kill to a food program. It was a great success the first year. The 2nd year an animal rights group sued to stop it. A couple of good lawyers defended the food program for free and won! The 2nd year was even better than the first!

Thank goodness for Common Sense ....aeehhhh ....Commonwealth Law (in all other States)???!!!
