Timken vs. National Bearings

Not familiar with National, some Timkens are fine but I used a lot of them that were made in Poland and they didn't seem to last very long. I have bought trailer wheel bearings (SKF) and the cup was made in Mexico and the cone in US. Where I worked Torrington was considered the best, but not every manufacturer makes every style of bearing.

That is a glass half full/half empty question.
They are both considered quality parts. They both make some products in the USA and some products over seas including China. I do think National has a better warrenty.

Torrington is owned by Timken

National is owned by federal-mogul the same people that own Fel-Pro gaskets; Moog; and Wagner Brakes.

They're both probably better than the stuff turned out by the Wang-duk Bearing Co from Szihu-Choo City China!

About 10-12 years ago one of the MOPAR rags toured Timken's plant in Bucyrus, OH. One of the execs told them that their tolerances are tight enough, that you could set up a rear-end with their bearings, then replace the bearings with ones made at their Chinese or Polish factory, and not have to adjust the set-up when you reassemble it.
