TV advice

I retired Thursday and got a 42" LG cinema 3d led television, a Super M precision tractor and a couple other things. I seldom watch tv anymore, will this tv do anything on a roof top antenna, no dish or cable? I do get a kick out of the toy tractor with the hyd. hoses, fan belts, plug wires and seat suspension.

Yep, I got one the other day, old TV quit. Just plugged the cable straight from the antenna, by-passed the digital adapter box that the old TV needed, and it works like a champ. Really like it.

With the appropriate antenna, it would depend how far you are away from the TV transmitting tower. Check with neighbors.

An outdoor antenna will work fine; but You might need an amplifier to help boost the signal if You are far from the transmission towers.

I have a great digital TV at my house and a similar one at my dad's. Both are using an outside antenna with excellent reception. Better than dish unless it is HD.

A whole lot depends on where you live. Where I am I have 75 plus miles to any TV station so not very good signal here so Direct TV is about all I can have if I want any stations at all. My mo who lives close to me has an antenna and she gets maybe 7 stations

To check your address for a reasonable estimate of potential tv reception try either:

or use the address search feature at

and try different antenna heights.

Not where I am at. I would need a tower at least 100 foot tall if not more. When TV went from analog to digital where I am we lost most every thing

John, if you have HDMI ports on laptop and TV, plug a cable between the two and it will approximate what you are looking for. Works for me.
Also just found a wireless system that will do the same thing.
