I think the flywheel has been turned down too many times. Clutch does not fully disengage even after adjusting linkage. All new clutch, pp, and throw out last year. Is there any way to shim the throw out bearing? Or any other solutions without replacing flywheel? Can the flywheel be build back up?

Is this a recent problem or one that existed before you changed the clutch? Did you cut the flywheel at that time?

I'd be much more inclined to think that the pinch bolt that holds the clutch fork to the cross shaft is broken and that's what's preventing proper disengagement. Also... a disc that's installed backwards or had it's hub blow up could also easily cause this problem... as could broken/bent PP fingers I don't know how much you'd have to cut a flywheel so that it would effect clutch release but I think you'd have other problems first...

Rod

I would check the release bearing and holder first. Then the PP fingers and all the linkage to the clutch. Is the new clutch disc thicker than the old one, as in too thick for this tractor? That would hold the fingers farther from the release bearing. I hate when new stuff doesn't work right. The second time in there doesn't take as long though!

Tractor has been very difficult to go in gear(rakes) every since new clutch, pp install. Before then cluch engaged fine. I did use aftermarket parts. I did have to shorten clutch adjusting rod, and add some more threads to the rod just to get the cluch to somewhat work, But still rakes too hard when shifting. Would the parts be to blame or the flywheel? I want to have the parts before I break it down again.

Iknow how much you took off the flywheel, but I would be looking for other reasons for the trouble. Sounds like you have the wrong Pressure plate or throwout bearing.

It sounds like the fingers on the pressure plate wern't adjusted right when it was rebuilt. If you have an inspection hole big enough, you could adjust them without splitting the tractor.

The old clutch had a front and rear side (protruding hub). Replacement clutch disk was same on both sides. Was this not the right Disk. It is the 11" with 9 splines.

I Have seen a lot of them in my 70+ years and I think the poster are all over it . Just do not see the flywheel being turned too much being the problem. You either have a fork not right on the cross shaft, not correct adjustment on fingers or clutch plate in backwards but probably not the flywheel... My too cents worth

There are a lot of variations in clutches for Ford tractors after 1965. It took me 3 or 4 tries to get the right disk and PP when I rebuilt my 4600 last winter, and that was from the dealer, with me taking the old one in before ordering!
