I bought an oliver 880 diesel and was working on it and there was a lighter greem almost exactly
like a mist green but serial numbers don't match
i heard there were 4 mist green 880s with wrong
serial numbers we thought it was primer don't know need help.

Does it have any factory extras on it? Like two speed or 3 point, power steering or anything like that? The color signified an econinomical tractor, so it should prett much be a plain jane.

The mist green on the 880 did not mean it was a plain jane model. On the later 1750 & 1850 special models the off color was used to identify the plane jane models.

JS is correct. It was the intention of the higher ups at Oliver to make all of the 880s mist green to differentiate them from the 770 since they were physically the same size. They did it for just a month, more like 10 days production actually, before a nearly 3 month strike stopped production. During the strike, those mist green tractors went out to the dealers and were a near impossible sell. Some dealers painted them Meadow green just to get them off the lot. There was so much resistance to them that when production resumed after the strike, they went back to the Meadow green.

Now having one outside the serial number range, don't know. Blaine had a list of those and he doesn't post on here anymore. If it was outside the known range,I'd think it would be probably immediately after and wouldn't be a long ways out.

I got my serial number 62 760-822 they started with 71.but still more and more lighter paint
I still think its a mist green could serial numbers been changed? thanks!
