Hi all haveing a problem got a john deere 7020, cutting out and not revving up after about a min of running, wondering if it is easy enough to remove fuel pump. did not want to remove pump until i know what timing marks are and does the front engine timing cover need to come off?
any help welcome
Thanks Craig

Did you check the fuel filter, lines etc. Or try to blow air back into the tank? Had an 8630 doing weird stuff and I noticed a wasp floating in the tank. We drained it and someone had put a few handfuls of corn stalks in there. Just something to check if you haven't already.

Hi yes done the normal things inc running on a fresh fuel line from a differnt fuel tank so everthing has been removed from system except the main fuel injector pump.

thanks Craig

Remove fuel return line at inj pump, start engine and if no fuel comes out of the fuel return line fitting then fitting is plugged with debris from failing drive ring in the pump.

7020 should have inline Bosch A size pump like 4430-4630 had. As has been mentioned, check flow starting at fuel tank, through filters to pump inlet. Check supply pump check valves too, if either one has debris holding it open flow will be very low. Have seen them held open before. Injection pump may have nothing wrong at all.
