Kampsville Inn for the Sunday buffet. They got really good chicken. All the sides are home made too.

The ferry goes from Greene to Calhoun county.Calhoun county is a peninsula between the Mississippi and Illinois river. The confluence of the two rivers is at the southern tip. It's also one of the top peach producers in the country. The only way in from Missouri is by ferry. On the Illinois there's two ferry access or one bridge. The bridge is a cable lift .
And to answer bills question, good brakes.
,The tractors and grainery are in Pike county.

Thanks Charlie! I haven't been home for a few years. It really brings back memories, from the 50's. The ferry people used to have 3 55 gal barrels of used oil sitting on the road bank, and us boys would use that in our old 45 GMC pickup, to get around. It took more oil, than gas to run old smokie.

Charlie N.,

Really nice photos - all of them. I love the old grain elevator in the last pic.

If you and your wife ever go back there, it would be fun to see some photos of the old, green grain truck in the background.

Wonderful pictures. I wonder if anybody ever came over that hill and didn't see the "no bridge" sign.
That would be a big surprise!
I agree with Sweetfeet, a picture of that truck would be great.
I love those old Chevy (or GMC) COEs!
