Just kidding. Just got a notice from nRa that there's going to be a ralley abouts our rights. My respounse: I sent this to them.

Why on a Thusrday? It's a fact that most actavists rally durring the week because they don't work. What about the people that have jobs to support their families? The biggest supporters of gun rights are farmers and rural folks. They can't take a day off. Would'nt it be interesting if the real down to earth gun guys took a couple days off to protest and the grain didn;t come in on time? City folk wouldn't have their food.

I'm not a farmer by trade, but I don't get a lot of time to defend my rights by taking days off to go to ralleys. I'm too busy trying to give my daughter a good education and feed my family.

I am a member of the NRA, and very proud to be one.

I think the reason it's not on a weekend is media attention. Nobody's paying attention on the weekend.

CH,

I see this for most if not all group from conservative to liberal. Why do you hold a rally at 1pm in the afternoon on any given day.

Just like you, I have a job I need to be at, a family (kids) that have activities, etc.

I always wonder who all these people are that attend all these rallys conserative or liberal that dont appear to have anything else to fill their day.

I know one of them, she is my nosy neighbor. Too busy stirring up trouble with all the other neighbors to hold a job.

Rick

I saw a media person on TV try to interview a guy in DC holding up a protest sign in a rally of some sort.

The media person started asking the guy questions about the issue, and the guy replied, "I don't know, they just gave me $20 to hold up this sign".

I think a lot, if not the majority, of the protestors are jobless and homeless that are paid a pittance to be there.

If all the farmers would band together and shut off the food supply to the cities and Washington D.C. for a few months I bet most of the problems would disappear pretty quickly. Farmers have the power, they just don't use it.

The NFO (National Farmer's Organization?) tried to unionize farmers in the 1960's. It made headlines, but it didn't have much impact.

Few farms sell directly to consumers. Most farms sell raw inputs that are widely available from so many sources they are considered commodities.

To actually start to control prices you need to get down to eight or fewer suppliers so it's easier to cooperate i.e.:
air lines (still consolidating),
oil companies,
meat packing companies,
and grain companies.

Been tried before with miserable results.
As soon as the price starts to move, your neighbor will take the advantage to sell while you sit on yours.
Jimmy Carter proved that with his grain embargo. All the other countries sold while the american farmer sucked the hind teat.
He also gave us double digit inflation, double digit interest rates and double digit unemployment but hey, maybe it was Bush's fault.
