Gasoline Storage

I am wanting to store about 100 gallons of 93 octane, which is about one seasons usage. How do you guys do it?

I buy my racing gas a year at a time , I have no problems storing gasoline. I store in a 55 gallon plastic barrel that this fuel comes in. I just keep it under a roof and keep the bungs screwed in tight when not in use .

I was discussing this with a friend a couple of months ago.
We came to the conclusion that the best way, and cheapest is to buy several 5 gallon cans and then rotate them so that nothing is older than 6 months. Also, if you have the money is to buy a flammable cabinet.

I just haul my 150 gallon farm tank to walmart and fill it up.No storage problems, maybe a little
evaporation,but not noticable.

I buy 50 gal of 91 octane ethanol free , store it in 5 gal cans, and keep it in a flammables cabinet and rotate it out every 6 months, no additives added.(only keep it on hand for in the event of shortages at the pumps) Bill

Put a pressure cap on your storage tank.
The pressure cap helps keep the light fractions of the gasoline from evaporating and helps keep moisture from making it,s way into the tank.
Keeps the gas "good" much longer

The fuel tank pressure caps are avalible at most farm stores and thread right into a 2 inch tank bung.

150 gallon overhead tank. Dad bought some gas without ethanol last year, and that stuff gave us the most problems last year. Normally what we buy has ethanol in it and rarely a problem.

Numbered five gallon cans. Rotate it - oldest first. Treat it with StaBil. Stored in a "fuel shed" - a metal building off by itself. I only have cans for about 90 gallons. Insurance is an issue with storage. I get lax and sometimes don't keep them all filled. Right now down to about 25 gallons on hand. Small time operation.

i use 5 gallon cans, every 2 weeks i go refill them, fast rotation keeps the fuel fresh, i really dont know what is in this modern government gas, but i do know from bitter experience it isnt worth a crap for any storage over a few months, over the winter i use stabil in them as my fuel use drops considerably, sometimes i can stretch refills out to 3 weeks
