Wife's mother...100 years past Sunday

Ruby turned 100 years old Sunday and we had a little cake with her. She loves cornbread, so my wife made her a cornbread birthday cake...well at least it had candles on it.

She is an amazing woman. Down home, farm type gal. Been healthy most of her life. Father-in-law left us in 1983 and she has been living on her own ever since.

We were able to get her off the farm in 2006 and she's been living by herself in a little apartment.

My wife and I moved close by so we could 'Check-in' on her and make sure every thing is okay and take her for check ups and stuff, but she is doing real good most days...kind of on her own.

Here are some pics and she still has the mind to play bingo, we all enjoyed a little game of bingo at her 100th party.

I think this is something special these days and I just wanted to share.

Thanks for sharing. That is great. Enjoy every
minute. Beautiful gal.She sure doesnt look 100. My
Grandmom is 97 and still going strong.

Thanks for sharing, great to see her looking so good at 100. Although she is failing a bit in body, my Mom, mentally sharp, turns 102 in march.

Great pictures of a wonderful event!!
Reminds me of my wife's uncle who was a preacher.
He had a wonderful sense of humor.
At his 100th B'day party I told him I had never
been to a 100th B'day party before......he replied
with that typical gleam in his eye....neither have
I!!
My Mom-In-Law passed away last November at 95.
She was "with it" right up to the end.
With so many jokes about them, I am so glad a few
of us have had beautiful Mothers in law!!
My very best wishes to her.

My wifes grandmother lived to 99, It was amazing all the things that she had seen in her life time. From Orville and Wilber, to see a man on the moon, from horse and buggy to the modern day autos. I could listen to her for hours, you talk about a history lesson. God Bless Rubby!

Yeah, she's a big joke teller. I asked her "How do you feel at a hundred?" She replied, "Just like I always have,...with my fingers" LOL. :)

My Grandma live to 104. They lived about 15 miles from town. Three day trip. One day going, one day in, and one day back in those good old days. She told me this once when I had to go to town twice one day for parts.

It's great that she is still doing so well. My grandma is 96 and just going into the home with some dementia. That part is bad, but we have had a lot of good years and at 96 she is entitled to forget whatever she wants! Hope she gets to enjoy as many more birthdays as she wants.

My wife's grandmother lived almost to 100. Wore out three pacemakers and was mentally bright up until the last day.

Her heart couldn't go any more. A couple of weeks before she left we were in her room and her heart doctor had come to see her. While there she asked him for a favor: With a serious look on her face she requested that he remove her pacemaker after she dies. Somewhat taken aback by this, he told he would do that if that was what she wished, but he would like to know why...She told him "I don't want that thing to jump-start me in the grave!" Then the wicked little grin she was famous for appeared--she was making jokes until the end.

WOW! Tell her happy birthday and that she looks at least 20+ years younger than her age. Amazing.
