96 dodge Cummins starter relay issues

a couple weeks ago my 96 12 valve Cummins blew the 40 amp starter relay under the hood, I didn't really think anything of it just changed it and went on my way. Today it blew it again so I put in another new one and same thing happened. I've traced the wires from the fuse box where the relay is to the starter and they seemed to be ok. Is tiger anything else I should check? Could my starter possibly be getting weak?

Tylersr5........you ask......."Could my starter possibly be getting weak?"........NO, but yer starter drive is probably hanging-up. Gitt "Larry-B's" starter contacts repair kit. ($30, cheap) Look at the SIZE of yer battery cable down to yer starter motor Bendix. Could yer 40-amp starter relay handle that??? As a general rule, relays are bullet-proof. That is what they make FUZES for. Relays to do the switching, FUZES to protect the wiring. There is a possibility that yer relay socket in yer fuze box is LOOSE. Wiggle yer relay around in the socket. Simple, eh? ........respectfully, Dell with Cummins Diesel

I would remove the lugs from the relay plug holder one at a time and slide them on the relay connectors legs and see if one of them is loose fitting. I have found this to be a problem with many relays. If one of the lugs is loose fitting it will cause heat and melt the relay in that perspective connector leg area rendering it inoperative and or blowing the fuse.
