Local paper last night had a story of a burgler
who crawled into a house through a window he broke out.The cell phone in his back pocket
somehow dialed 911.We just got the technology in our county to trace cell phones. The sheriff
showed up and found the guy hiding in a bath tub.Noone else was home.In a news conference the sheriff said he wished more criminals would phone ahead.

When they got there they followed the low battery beep from the phone to locate him in the house.

I've investigated burglaries where the burg dropped his wallet at the scene, left other personal ID, things like that. Makes life easier. In fact that got to be one of my first questions, "Do you see anything here that isn't yours?" Seems like 2-3 times out of 10 they'd find a phone or keys or hat or something. Helped a lot.

I've noticed from news on TV that a lot of druggies burglars etc. are caught in a routine stop for a light out on their car.

The Cops in Chicago wouldn't have found him. I had a Grand Cherokee stolen from my home. It was found in that dung heap so I went in to pick it up. Pigs said they did a search of the vehile but if they did they were not only blind but completely stupid. Not any sooner than getting the vehicle home than I had to call the local cop. Somehow the Shicago swine missed the two joints the bums left in the vehicle. Not only that but they had left a bag in the back that had several dozen ID's from people who had their vehicle stolen the same night. Oh they also missed the jacket that had one of the thieves license in it. Talk about incompetent. And a city I will NEVER again visit for ANY reason.
